Mark Ballard
Location/Area Manager & Funeral Director (licensed)
Mark Ballard has been serving families in Funeral Service in the Mid-South area for 43 years. Mark is currently Serving as the location Manager for Brent Taylor-Paul B. McCarver Funeral Directors and Area Manager for eight other funeral locations. Mark and his wife, Cindy have raised three children (Amanda, Joshua and Jonah) in Bartlett for 26 years. Mark has been actively involved in his community over the years, He was appointed to the Bartlett Recreation committee by Mayor Keith McDonald. Served on the Board of Directors for the Bartlett Chamber of Commerce, was a graduate of Leadership Bartlett and served as Vice President of the Leadership Bartlett Alumni Association. Mark has served as President, Vice President and Secretary of the Bartlett/Cordova Rotary Club. Serving and giving back to his community is very important to Mark. In their spare time Mark and Cindy enjoy fishing together and spending time on the lake.
Mark also enjoys time deer hunting with friends.
Melanie Griffin
Administrative Assistant (non licensed)
Melanie Griffin has been with Brent Taylor Funeral Directors since April 2021. She transferred from Munford Funeral Home-Munford Chapel where she served families as a hostess for three years. During which time, she learned she had her father’s heart for caring for others in their time of need. One of the greatest honors in her life was her nomination by a family to be one of the recipients of Tipton County’s 2019 Most Awesome Woman Award.
Along with the experienced staff of funeral directors, Melanie is devoted to serving families in Memphis and the surrounding area with the highest level of care and thoughtfulness. She understands how important every detail, large or small, can be to a family and strives to honor their loved one in her work.
Melanie and her husband, Phillip, have been married for over twenty years and currently reside in Cordova, Tennessee. She enjoys working in her yard, riding on the back of Phil’s motorcycle and being with family. They are proud parents to a rescued fur baby, Bella. And both relish spending time with their “girls”; nieces, Allison (TJ), Savannah and Lexie; and their adorably entertaining great-nephew, Andrew!
Chris Thomas
Family Service Advisor
Chris had 23+ years as an elected official in Shelby County including 4 years on the Memphis School Board, 16 years as Probate Court Clerk, 4 years as a County Commissioner and was City Manager of Lakeland. He had several years in sales also, before coming to Brent Taylor Funeral Directors as our Family Services Director where he assists families with their preneed funeral arrangements. He saw first hand as Clerk how an unexpected death can cause an emotional and financial burden on families. He has also served on many non-profit boards and volunteered for many organizations. Serving and helping people is what he loves to do. He is a life long Memphian. He is blessed with 3 kids that were all raised here in the 901 and 9 grandkids and loves this area. Fun facts about Chris is He was on Wheel of Fortune in 1986, Oprah in 1998 and recently his family was chosen to be on Family Feud. He loves sports, the Tigers, Grizzlies, and Redbirds and volunteers for the Fedex St Jude Golf tournament. He would love to help your family with your preneed funeral arrangements.
